Results of the meeting of the Working Group on elaboration of draft laws “On weapons”

On November 27, the second meeting of the Working Group on the draft laws “On Arms” (№1222 and №1222-1) was held.

Despite the attempts of the representatives of Ibis and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to persuade the participants to give preference to the draft law 1222-1 prepared by them, the participants of the working group did not agree to this.

The key role in the discussion was played by the conclusion of an unbiased scientific institution – the V. Marx Institute of State and Law. В. М. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Separately, we would like to note that during the discussion, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced their readiness to support the right of citizens to armed protection with the use of short-barreled rifled weapons.

After a long and fierce discussion, the following decision was made – to send both draft laws for revision to the Committee on Law Enforcement, which should result in a common comprehensive draft law that will regulate this area of relations, prepared by the authors of both draft laws.
