Ukrainian Gun Owners Association addressed a letter to Kateryna Zguladze

Dear Ms. Kateryna!

In recent days, you have published information in the media about the plans to reform the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the relevant structural units and services subordinate to the Department.

Over the past two years, the Ukrainian Association of Gun Owners, together with representatives of the gunsmithing community of Ukraine, has developed a public draft law “On Civilian Weapons and Ammunition”, which has already been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine under the number 1135-1.

Currently, in preparation for the hearing in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a public discussion of this draft law is being held.

Your announced plans to reform the Department of Public Security, which includes the Permit System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, directly relate to the issues of the structure of state bodies for control over the circulation of civilian weapons regulated by the above draft law.

In connection with the above, I ask you to consider the issue of possible cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Gun Owners Association in order to finalize the provisions of the draft law in accordance with the concept of reforming the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Regards,

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Gun Owners Association
Georgy Uchaykin
