The first petition to be submitted to the President of Ukraine – Petition of gun owners

On September 3, 2015, the petition of gun owners, which was registered on the relevant page of the presidential website on August 29, gained the necessary 25,000 votes for consideration.
THE ESSENCE OF THE APPEAL:
To establish by law the right of Ukrainian citizens to protection.
THE TEXT OF THE ELECTRONIC PETITION:
NGO “Ukrainian Gun Owners Association” demands:
1. To supplement Article 27 of the Constitution of Ukraine with the following part four:
“Every citizen of Ukraine has the right to free possession of firearms to protect his life and health, housing and property, life and health of other people, constitutional rights and freedoms in case of usurpation of power, encroachment on the constitutional order, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The exercise of the right to free possession of firearms is regulated by the relevant law and may be restricted only by a court decision in respect of an individual.”
2. Immediately adopt the Law “On civilian weapons and ammunition” №1135-1.
