{"id":7328,"date":"2015-04-20T11:48:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-20T08:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uavz.org\/gun-owners-asked-deputies-uncomfortable-questions\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T03:32:44","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T00:32:44","slug":"gun-owners-asked-deputies-uncomfortable-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uavz.org\/en\/gun-owners-asked-deputies-uncomfortable-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Gun owners asked deputies uncomfortable questions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On April 20, the Ukrainian Association of Gun Owners sent personal questionnaires to all members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to determine the attitude of MPs to the need to provide a legislative status for the circulation of weapons in Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having addressed to each MP, the Association warned that the results of the survey will be posted on the official website of the UAWP and will be discussed in the media and online publications, and ignoring the request or providing incomplete information will be perceived as indifference or negative attitude to the issue of utmost importance for Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Despite the recent statements of the <a href=\"http:\/\/zbroya.info\/uk\/quotes\/5653_poroshenko-rozpoviv-pro-efektivnist-sbu-ta-vilnii-obig-zbroyi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">President of Ukraine<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/zbroya.info\/uk\/quotes\/5600_golova-mvd-avakov-proti-prava-liudei-nositi-zbroiu\/\">Minister of Internal<\/a> Affairs, it is well understood that the legislative function is entrusted to the Parliament, and therefore MPs should be aware of their personal responsibility,&#8221; said the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the UWCA Georgiy Uchaykin.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It is fundamentally important for the numerous gunsmithing community to know the position of each MP. In the future, we will not only reflect it in our <a href=\"http:\/\/zbroya.info\/uk\/quote_authors\/politic\/rating\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gun ratings of politicians<\/a>, but will also be able to compare the voting results with the position indicated in the questionnaire. I hope that understanding of this will help MPs to take a more responsible attitude to the most important issue for Ukraine,&#8221; Uchaykin added.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Questionnaire survey of the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Do you share the opinion that the right to protect one&#8217;s own life is an inalienable right of every person?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Do you know that Ukraine remains the only country in Europe that does not have its own gun legislation?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Are you aware of a significant reduction in the crime rate in post-Soviet countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova) after the adoption of relevant laws on weapons?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. It is a well-known fact that in Ukraine a large number of weapons are in illegal circulation, which is dynamically increasing due to the hostilities in the East of Ukraine. Do you think that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine are able to curb the circulation of illegal weapons in Ukraine?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Do you agree that the adoption of the necessary Ukrainian legislation on arms will help to reduce the demand for illegal weapons and partially legalize already purchased illegal weapons?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. Do you share the opinion that citizens of Ukraine should be given the legal right to protect their own lives, property and the lives of others with firearms?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7. As of today, all circulation of civilian weapons among the population is regulated exclusively by internal departmental orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Do you share the opinion that it is necessary to give a legislative status to arms circulation in Ukraine?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8. Do you share the opinion that citizens of Ukraine should be able to defend their lives with short-barreled rifled firearms?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9. Do you agree that the following amendments should be made to the Constitution of Ukraine:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To supplement Article 27 with part four as follows:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Every citizen of Ukraine has the right to free possession of firearms to protect his\/her life and health, home and property, life and health of other people, constitutional rights and freedoms in case of usurpation of power, encroachment on the constitutional order, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The exercise of the right to free possession of firearms is regulated by the relevant law and may be restricted only by a court decision in respect of an individual.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10. Will you support the <a href=\"http:\/\/uavz.org\/proekt-zakonu-pro-tsivilnu-zbroiu-i-boiepripasi\/\">Draft Law on Civilian Weapons and Ammunition (1135-1<\/a>) when it enters the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">11.
